Stories Behind The Songs
Wrapped In Red White And Blue is a song about an 18 year old boy that signed up to serve his country just like his father did.
I wrote this song shortly after the US military Afghanistan withdraw in 2021. After seeing everything that happened, I started thinking about what those soldiers signed up for, what their families thought, and how they might have thought they would be home soon. This also brought to mind the faces of all the fallen soldiers that I would see on the nightly news growing up in the early 2000s.
All of this inspired me to write a song that attempted to capture the mindset and emotions of the fallen soldiers when they signed up for the military and how their families must have felt about it. I wanted to honor their sacrifice, and so this song was born.

Weekend Never Leaves is a song about a guy struggling with the emotions of the love of his life leaving to pursue a dream. He wants her to chase her dream but at the same time he wants her to stay. In this last weekend together, he is cherishing every moment with her and praying that the weekend would last forever. It is also implied in the song that he won’t tell her he loves her because he knows then she would stay for him, and not chase her dream. He knows the relationship will end on Monday, and all he would have to do is say “I love you”, but he won’t because he doesn’t want her to give it all up for him.
Interesting fact about this song is I wrote it while on a plane and while listening to Merle Haggard’s “Silver Wings”, which inspired the song.

I Can’t Wait is a very personal song for me. I wrote it shortly after my wife and I found out she was pregnant in the fall of 2023. Amidst all the emotions of finding out that I am going to be a dad, this song came to me and I just had to record it. The song is all about what I can’t wait to do with our child when they’re born. I hope to make unforgettable memories with them the very same way my dad made unforgettable memories with me.
It truly is amazing how you can love something so much you’ve never held. Especially, after you see the first ultrasound with their heartbeat! I thank the good Lord everyday for His providence and this amazing blessing.
If you’re a dad reading this, I hope this song speaks to you!

American Hero is a song I wrote in honor of a family friend that passed away from leukemia a few years ago. He was a Vietnam War veteran and he had a profound impact on my life. His example showed me what it meant to be a man in hard times and how to serve your community well even when it may not serve you well. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to other veterans, and he never complained about about the lot he was given.
Like many vets, he never talked about his time in the military. All I knew for the longest time was that he was an Army helicopter gunner and lost one of his legs in a crash. I later found out that the helicopter was shot down and he managed to drag himself from the crash, stand up on two broken legs and throw a grenade to take out the enemy. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his heroism.
However, what really made him a hero was even after everything he had been through, he never became bitter or resentful. Instead, he chose to serve and lead within his community, and had one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever seen. He had so much pride and love for his nation, and was an inspiration for me and those that knew him. It was truly an honor and a privilege to have had him in my life. He was an American Hero.
I wrote this song for him and for others like him.
